Omega 24.1

Welcome back cosmic travellers to another spectacular edition of ‘In my opinion’, Cosmic books very own fantastic reviewing platform!

This month I will be discussing the Bad Batch. Lucasfilm animation and Disney plus’s exciting Star Wars series about a rag-tag team of interplanetary mercenaries made up of genetically altered misfit clones. Today I want to be exploring what makes the Bad Batch really truly an exceptional half hour of TV and prove to you it really is the not so Bad Batch after all

The show is now in its third highly enjoyable season. Created by Dave Filoni The show is really a sequel to the highly successful Walt Disney TV show The Clone Wars which ran from 2008 to 2020.

Picking up when the Clone wars came to an end, we quickly get caught up with Clone force 99 and end up caught up in the excitement as they battle criminals, gangsters, the Empire and giant monsters along the way!

The show is voiced primarily by Dee Bradley Baker who voices all of the main characters except the young Clone Omega who is voiced by Michelle Ang. The series pretty much revolves around Omega and her relationship between the rest of her clone brothers.

Omega as it turns out is a rare female clone of Jango Fett and is the real star of the show. Season 3 revolves around Omega being rescued by her ‘younger’ brothers, Clone force 99 after she is captured by a group of ruthless evil Imperial Scientists.

As this season kicks off we find Omega held captive on a hostile jungle planet where she enlists the assistance of those least willing to assist and ends up proving her ability to overcome all obstacles placed in her way.

Omega continues to prove her loyalty and bravery are assets to the team and is by far the most important member of the Bad Batch. The rumours are that this season will end poorly for many members of this crew as last season’s ending proved. I really hope poor omega won’t be killed off at the end and she eventually gets her own live action film.

I have enjoyed all three seasons of The Bad Batch and even though it is coming to an end, that ending hasn’t yet come yet! The final season is about half way through so there is still time to jump aboard. The Bad Batch revolves around friendship and honour, sacrifices and doing the right thing even when it is not the easiest thing to do, it upholds nicely the spirit of Star Wars (before Disney…) and is worth the watch

I can’t wait for the rest of this season!

Amendment, May, 2024
Well the season/ series ended on a high note, gladly mostly everyone survived! While some characters deserved to return to grant them some sort of conclusion to their individual arcs, we’ll just have to hope they all got what they deserved. The final season was well done and it didn’t stray too far from the main plot, staying focused upon the story which eventually saw the mission complete.

I will miss this show, it was fun, well done and had good animation, writing and heart. It felt like Star Wars. My speculation that Goggles would return wasn’t correct but I did have a hunch they would pursue an extended translation of the main character Omega, I just wasn’t sure how?

The final episode made that intention clear and I’ll take it, either in the form of a live action tv show or another animated show. I’ll be more than happy to watch the continued adventures of the Bad Batch and Omega in this ‘new’ incarnation of the character.

Perhaps she could team up with the Ahsoka and the Rebels or perhaps show up in Andor?

May the Force be with you, regardless.
